TwinThe pretty village of Haytor Vale is tucked down a narrow lane below the well-known Dartmoor landmark of Haytor Rocks. Beam Ends is at the end of a terrace of stone cottages, a short stagger down the narrow street from The Rock Inn – a pub enjoying a justified reputation for good food.
The neighbouring owners have turned this formerly neglected cottage into a lovely home, with views from the sheltered, private patio across fields where the neighbour grazes his horses. The dining-room has a glazed roof, giving plenty of light whatever the weather, and the airy sitting-room is just as attractive; a step leads into the galley-style kitchen. Up the steep wooden stairs are the bedrooms and bathroom.
From Beam Ends there are some enchanting walks through the nearby beech woods and straight onto the moor, with a particularly wonderful view down to Teignmouth and the sea.
So why not pull on your boots, put the dog on the lead and head for the hills – knowing you have this welcoming haven to return to at the end of the day.
