Good points were that the cottage is charming and characterful. Old and quirky is usually ok for us. Set in a beautiful location as described. Equipment and cleanliness was good... bedrooms and bathroom as described so no complaintx there. Furnishings I would describe as shabby chic.... Unfortunately, entering the cottage we were overwhelmed by the smell of damp which continued throughout the week. The storage heaters didnt seem to give out much heat at all.I would say this spoiled our stay. I would suggest that the description advise holidaymakers to buy logs. In previous cottages we have stayed in with a woodburner either a starter bag of logs has been supplied or advice given to bring your own . None were available for our first night and it was too late to go out again looking for the nearest garage. Once the woodburner was alight it did warm the cottage as promised. So figure this into your costs...we were unfortunate to have a fairly wet week, but thats life. The photos show a bright interior. This was not the case in late September. Unfortunately we would not return to Hope Cottage. ...

Whilst we weren't aware of your thoughts at the time, this is something we will monitor closely. Older Cornish properties such as these do benefit from good ventiliation and warmth. Another wonderful stay in Helford River and Hope Cottage. For my children Hope Cottage feels like that home away from home and its position is just brilliant. It allows for morning and evening swims when the tide is high, short walks in the morning for fresh Croissants and goodies for the day, well positioned to access all of the walks available and the terraced garden was perfect for Pizza picnics and Barbecues…a perfect getaway!...

Hope Cottage is in a beautiful location that is extremely quiet (we were there outside school holidays). It is idyllic place to stay for exploring Helford Passage and the Lizard with a fantastic cafe, pub and local shop just a short walk away.
