Mrs Dalton October 2021

A unique and isolated retreat.

Mrs Greenwood October 2021

Our stay was for the second year running, in the same month, October. The property has stayed in very good condition, for example, the mattress is very supportive and the shower performs very well. It struck us on this visit, how sturdy the building is, and when we met the farmer neighbour, who described just how lively the weather gets, and hence, no trees about, we appreciated the solidity of the restored building and the quality of the glazing even more. The views from the very large living area are beyond words, they are what drew us back this second visit, and being so near to the coast, there is a constant contrast between the skyline, the sea and the land, which can either be ever-changing subject to the weather, or very settled when the only movement will be the cattle and sheep shifting across the patchwork of fields below Station A. And the clear sky at night is star-studded with layers and layers of pinprick stars and swirling hazes of clouds. Locally, the walking is coastal and inland and is unlimited and a mix of gentle and dramatic. And very local Melin Tregwynt mill is one of the very few working woollen mills in old buildings, in Wales, tucked down a narrow winding tree-lined lane, and you can find out the technical and family history on site along with viewings of the modern looms at work, making beautiful products sold on site and in leading shops across the UK. At Strumble Head, we saw and heard the stirring cries of a lone seal cub in a cove whilst two adult seals swam around the rugged inlets in a millpond sea at sunset, accompanying a lone paddle boarder! If you want to get away from it all, Station A is the place to go, especially if you love being up high with stunning views and changing weather and the opportunity to walk out in any direction. There's a road right beside the property but you cannot see it, and you can count the number of vehicles going past or cyclists or walkers and the total is minimal! And everyone we met either on foot or in town is relaxed and friendly. ...

Amazing position on a ridge overlooking the coast, the large picture windows give an amazing impression of space. You can see Ireland on a clear day!
