Two sets of doors open onto this wide paved terrace and the fully enclosed garden. The post and rail fencing also has rabbit proof wire and so is as secure as is reasonably possible.
The kitchen/dining-room is really spacious, with the front door opening to the farmstead.
The two and a half acre arboretum is the most beautiful and peaceful place to explore, sit with a book or have a picnic lunch.
Stairs lead from the sitting-room to the first floor of the cottage. There is also a door directly out onto the patio.
The kitchen is a delightful sociable space to cook in, with the farmhouse table in the other half of the room.
The sparkling worktop will inspire you to cook, but there is also a footpath through woodland directly to the friendly local pub.

The main bedroom has a king-size bed and its own en suite shower-room. High ceilings and a large window make this room lovely and light and airy.
You can sit in bed with your morning cup of tea and look out over the meadow. You are quite likely to see deer grazing in the evening or early in the morning.
The two bedrooms are at opposite ends of the corridor.
This is the en suite shower-room for the master bedroom. The wonderful shower has a rainfall shower head as well as a conventional one.
The second bedroom has views out over the 2.5 acre arboretum which is filled with unique tree species.
The bathroom next to the twin bedroom has a bath as well as a fitted shower.

Crab Apple cottage is a beautiful barn conversion, that has been completed to an exceptionally high standard. It is even lovelier in real life - and the website photos already make it look great! The decor, furniture and finishing touches have been well thought out and are of a very high standard indeed. The garden and patio are generous, clean and well maintained. The fencing (and chicken wire), ensure that both children and dogs are safe and secure, within its boundaries. A great sun trap and a lovely space to play or relax. The kitchen is fully equipped, finished to a high standard and spacious. The bathrooms are also finished to a very high standard and are light and airy. The beds were fantastic - a great nights sleep were achieved for the whole week. The local area is great for walks, spotting wildlife (especially the deer) and birds. It is so tranquil and yet, in easy driving distance to the coast, villages, National Trust properties and within a short walk to the local pub - The Keepers Cottage, where the food was excellent. Lucy and Ian have a wonderful property. They were friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble. We had the most wonderful week - we’ve already booked to go back! Hopefully it’ll be one of many more visits....

This was our second visit to Crab Apple cottage and I'm sure it won't be our last. The cottage is warm, comfortable and very well equipped; Lucy and Ian are excellent hosts. The location is perfect for exploring East Devon. We loved meeting the hens, watching the apple pressing and sampling Lucy's lovely homemade produce. The arboretum is a simply stunning place, quite magical; a beautiful space to relax and unwind. ...
