Lovely cottage in a really beautiful location.

Pro's - A fab. find with much better than average space and a master bedroom to die for!! Leigh Barn is in a unique setting with the grade 1 listed fortified farmhouse range and Poundhouse adjacent. A huge expanse of gardens are to the rear and follow a stream down the hill. Access both ways is by narrow Devon lanes which could test your reversing skills but adds to the character of the area. Whilst there we can recommend the Church House Inn at Churchstow (1 1/2 miles) for dinner and The Herons Nest (just north of Loddiswell) for breakfast or brunch/lunch. Con's - Better lighting over bedroom dressing table and en-suite and wet room mirrors would be helpful as would clear food storage spaces in kitchen. If, like us, you are staying there in the cold season ask for additional heaters for the downstairs bedroom as central heating is not adequate in this area. ...

Family of four, 15 and 12 years, stayed for two weeks in August. A beautiful, historic property set in the tranquility of a quintessential English, country garden. Very comfy beds. The location of the property is ideal for visiting a variety of beautiful beaches in the area. Would recommend Bantham beach (sandy)for waves and good food vans, especially the pizza van, and a view of Burgh Island. Blackpool Sands (shingle beach) stunning setting, great cafe and toilets, and very clean. The local pub, Church House Inn, is under a mile away. We drove as there is no public footpath. A short walk to the Valley View Cafe, but be warned that it is very busy and you have to wait a long time for your food. The property is lovely and adequate for a family of four. A few cons: The barn is quite dark with no direct view over the garden. Could have been a lot cleaner, lots of cobwebs and dust. Beware of lack of footpaths so, if you want to walk, you need to take care along the country lanes. ...

What a gem! The history and setting of Leigh Barn is wonderful. The garden and grounds were perfect for an afternoon cup of tea on the bench followed by a stroll along the paths. The decor and furnishings make this holiday home a perfect bolthole. We shall definitely return....
