Set in a pretty cobbled courtyard, Poachers Cottage is a delight.
John's Deli has shops and cafes in both Appledore and Instow. There are also some excellent pubs and little galleries to browse in.
The local pub is just down the road.
Across the estuary, reached by a lovely seasonal passenger ferry, is Instow, where there are wide sandy beaches at low and high tide.
A few hundred yards away you can stroll down the slipway at low tide for a sandy stretch of beach for your four-legged friend and children to enjoy.
Appledore is a traditional old fishing village with a wonderful network of little lanes and passageways to explore.
Catch the ferry from Bideford quay for a day out to Lundy Island.
North Devon's beaches are as good as any in Cornwall for surfing! Endless stretches of golden sand and rolling waves. This is Saunton Sands.
Charming Clovelly is a short car journey away.
Clovelly is a photographer's dream.
Have a day of adventure at North Devon Wake Park where you can wakeboard, paddle board or enjoy the giant aquapark!

This is a beautiful, snug and well-maintained holiday cottage. Peaceful, very close to the village and lovely walks. I would recommend it to anyone. Appledore is a wonderful village with a real community feel. I would definitely recommend the Market Street Kitchen for ambience, coffee, breakfast, lunch - staff are friendly and helpful, food is of excellent quality and good value for money and they also welcome dogs!...

Wow this really was a hidden gem, from the moment we arrived we fell in love with the cottage and surrounding Appledore. It was great to find a place so friendly and so far unspoilt. Great food and great company. Can't wait to go again, it will be nice to see The Royal George pub up and running....
