Mrs Warner April 2023

This is the fifth time that we have stayed at The Parlour. The high standard of accommodation, the comfort, the owner's attention to detail, and the stunning views of the Golden Cap, make this the ideal cottage for an excellent holiday.

Our stay at the Parlour exceeded our expectations. It had everything we could want for a perfect holiday. The location is beautiful with a south facing aspect and a great view of Golden Cap in the distant, so that at sunset you get great views of the golden light shining behind the hills. The village of Chideock nearby is a real surprise, chock full of history and lovely buildings. I loved the Catholic Church in the village (North Road) built in the mid 19th C High Victorian style with a dome based on the Duomo in Florence. Inside the church is a charming museum with some lovely historical artefacts. If you go into an adjoining car park and peep over the wall you can you see the remains of an old Roman chapel which the local Arundell family, Roman Catholic in religious belief, held secret services during the Reformation. A bit further along the road is a cottage with a Blue Placque on the wall dedicated to 'Chrissie Squire (1894-1976) The 'Chideock Egg Lady'....not sure what they actually meant. I have a few ideas!. A local pub, 'The George Inn' is a very homely and friendly place with good beers and a hearty menu. The local Spar has essentials and a post office. There is slightly bigger Spar just down the road in Seatown, and the walking is fabulous. Golden Cap is a must, as is the walk to West Bay ('Broadchurch' in the TV series). Bridport nearby is a delight to visit. We loved the Art Deco Palace Theatre. There is an hourly bus service to Bridport, Dorchester, Weymouth and Lyme Regis. On our first full day, sadly, my wife fractured her ankle walking back from West Bay, so we can attest that Dorset County Hospital and its staff are brilliant, as are the local taxi drivers. Lucy loved resting up, reading, with the view of Golden Cap in the distant for company. The Parlour was everything we hoped it would be and more. We will definitely be back....

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Parlour. The accommodation was excellent and well equipped. The views across the countryside and the peaceful surroundings made the holiday perfect. We found the property was well positioned for visiting our favourite paces in Dorset....

Mrs Thompson April 2023

Lovely, clean and comfortable accommodation and an ideal base for exploring/walking the coastal path. Bridport was only a short drive away for local supermarkets and two great positives were walks on the doorstep and a super local pub which meant the car stayed put for a few days. All in all a fab holiday. ...
