Visits to the pub
We were made to feel welcome. Log fire burning, lovely furniture to relax on, drinks high standard, staff friendly and helpful. We were on holiday staying in the village. They do a pie night on Mondays. We enjoyed the chicken and chorizo choice and veg perfectly cooked. Excellent puds. Just sad that there were not many customers on a couple of nights when we went. I hope more locals support them in the future.

Wonderful friendly pub
We booked in advance and had a lovely family evening meal last Sat night. The pub owner made us feel very welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The food was fabulous and very reasonably priced.

Take in the views and let the salty sea air whip your worries away. Found near Burton Bradstock, Hive Beach is a sweeping sandy strip backed by regal golden cliffs. With parking nearby and a celebrated café, Hive Beach is a lovely destination for a day's wandering and relaxing. Eagle-eyed visitors may even be so lucky to spot some fossils hidden along the beach.

Disappointing
Having read rave reviews we were disappointed by the breakfast we had there…cold, hard tomatoes and reheated squelchy mushrooms. The upside was sitting out in the sun next to the sea.

Fantastic waves,
This beach, even on a windy march day was spectacular and blew away the cobwebs and was very invigorating. Food in the Hive Cafe was great too.
August 2010
Hive Beach Cafe serves superb food suitable for all the family from an informal premises right on the beach. Get there early as it's very popular, but even when busy the service is usually reasonably quick.

Brilliant place; so popular you may have to wait! Food is more top-class restaurant quality than cafe.

Lovely staff, lovely location
We visited this centre a lot on our recent holiday due to their bird hide and the seating overlooking the stream at the back of the centre. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, the cafe served delicious food and they had lots of interesting activities for the children (aged 11).

A great find
Went to the pub for a meal. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal. The food was excellent. Being a coeliac the chef went out of his way to cater for my needs.

Good food, good view
This was a great pub on a lovely summer evening for sitting outdoors. The "pods" they have allow you to enjoy the fantastic view without feeling the breeze. Food was excellent.

Excellent food - idyllic setting.
If you feel like a something to eat in an idyllic setting away from everything, then this is the place to go. The food is excellent, not expensive and the menu caters for practically everyone - I say 'practically' everyone because there is always that one person for whom it won't! For us though, this is certainly an Inn that we shall be returning to.

A freehouse with excellent pub food. The pub garden has won the Best Small Pub Garden and has lovely views. Family run over a number of years, it's well worth a visit.
Crowned with the ramparts of an Iron Age hill fort, Eggardon affords king-of-the-castle-views across the Dorset countryside. There are two Bronze Age burial mounds here too.

Phenomenal view!
Although finding somewhere to park was not straightforward (there is no official parking) it was worth the visit. A nice easy walk around the hill and incredible views if you have the right weather.

A lovely walk
Beautiful spot and lovely views. A must.

Beautiful at sunset!
We like ancient history, so perhaps if you don't you might not find this place as fascinating, but it is beautiful at sunset and the views across Dorset out to see are absolutely stunning!

This hillfort is easily accessible from the road and provides fantastic panoramic views of the coastline of Lyme Bay, and inland over the Marshwood Vale.

Marvellous Montacute
Absolutely wonderful in every way. We enjoyed many hours here. A must visit property.

Shame.
A lovely house and location . It was a pity it was spoilt by a very heavy handed and hard sell approach in the ticket office to join the N.T. I had to be very persistent to get into the house and gardens without joining up .
Once we had managed to get in we had another issue with an officious lady in the long room who basically told us off for taking the wrong staircase up . It turned out that a rope had not been put in place . How were we to know! Other staff members tried to make up for this and were excellent but the impression overall was poor.

Very interesting
Another West Country gem to consider when in the Somerset or Dorset areas. Although the house was endowed to NT as an empty shell much work has been done by introducing surplus items from other properties and there is a current fascinating exhibition from the National Portrait Gallery which is a must.
