This truly rural barn conversion has a contemporary modern interior offering everything you could want from a get away from it all holiday. The Blue Hemmel is situated in the depths of the stunning Northumberland countryside on the edge of Kielder Forest, close to Hadrian's Wall, and is surrounded by flocks of sheep in the fields - you may even catch a glimpse of deer or red squirrels if you're lucky.

In the evening watch the stars pop out in this designated 'Dark Skies' area and marvel at the view of the Milky Way. You'll be a mile from your nearest neighbours (the owner) so while we can't offer you a pub at the end of the road, there is peace, wildlife and 800 acres to explore. The owner takes sustainibility seriously and this beautiful property boasts eco credentials such as solar-powered heating, owl boxes and wildflower planting.

The spacious open plan living area is light and bright with original beams, a vaulted ceiling and windows overlooking the charming garden and forest beyond. This sociable living space is warmed by under-floor heating and a cosy wood-burning stove, perfect for colder months. The kitchen has been beautifully designed with a large central island taking pride of place, perch and enjoy watching the cook at work or sip your morning cappuccino. The farmhouse dining-table is a great place to enjoy a meal together and discuss the day's adventures.

Cosy up on the sofa which curves around the wood-burner. The TV boasts Netflix, Amazon Prime, NOW TV, BBC iPlayer, ITVX and More 4, but please note that due to the location there are no live terrestrial channels.

Two comfy armchairs and a card table are ideal for playing one of the many games provided. For music lovers the Crosley turntable comes with a selection of classic LPs. Boogie on down to Abba and Queen if the mood takes you! The owner has also pulled together some themed playlists to share with you, perfect at different times of the day.

Three fabulously designed bedrooms all have doors to the patio and one has an en suite. A luxurious family bathroom and a large utility/boot-room complete the accommodation.

Outside you will find more space and plenty of sheep! The patio area overlooks the spectacular views. Sit around the fire-pit and toast some marshmallows or get out the barbecue and cook up a warming feast. Or to make the most of the area you are visiting swap the fire-pit and use the specially levelled platform complete with telescope and gaze at your very own sky at night.

You may decide to stay in and around the barn, but should you wish to venture further afield the closest village is Wark, a historic village which was once part of Scotland. The barn is in the heart of the National and Dark Sky Parks so if you want to learn more about astrology then visit the Battlesteads Dark Sky Observatory and gaze at the majesty of the dark skies at this public astronomical observatory.

No visit to Northumberland is complete without a stroll along part of Hadrian's Wall, tour Chesters Roman Fort and Museum and then follow the Tyne down to Hexham. Take a trip around Hexham Old Gaol, play a round of golf at the Tynedale Golf Club or wander around Hexham Abbey. Those of a more energetic nature will be spoiled by the wonders of Kielder Forest (the BBC Springwatch team film there) and Muckle Moss National Nature Reserve, both are perfect for hiking and nature spotting. For retail therapy or a taste of city life Newcastle-upon-Tyne has an abundance of shops, museums and galleries and so much more.

The Blue Hemmel is a one of a kind and away from it all cottage with high spec interiors and stylish design. You will enjoy a holiday to remember.
