DoubleThis gorgeous three bedroom cottage is in the picturesque town of Yarmouth just a few minutes' walk from the village centre and historic pier. Located on the west coast of the Island, the town is named for its location at the mouth of the small Western Yar river. With many boutique shops, cafes and restaurants to choose from, Modwena is the perfect cottage to enjoy a well-earned break in this charming setting.
The ground floor has all the charm of a traditional cottage with beautiful furnishings for ultimate comfort. There are two sitting-rooms, ideal for everyone to have their own space. Only one of the sitting-rooms has a television so the kids can watch a film in peace and quiet! The open plan layout of the kitchen/dining-room makes the cottage light and spacious with bi-folding doors from the dining-area to the enclosed patio. The sleek and modern kitchen will make cooking a dream, you just need to choose to dine inside or out. With a Mediterranean feel to the patio area you can make the most of the Island sunshine with a morning coffee or pre-dinner glass of wine. In Yarmouth you can pay for parking on a daily (24 hour period) or weekly basis using an app on your phone or by paying at the meters on site.
All three bedrooms are on the first floor, the staircase is steep so care must be taken at all times. There are two doubles and a twin bedroom; each one very tastefully decorated and one of the doubles has a television. The family bathroom on this floor has a bath and separate shower cubicle, you will definitely want to relax in a bubble bath after a wonderful day exploring the Island.
You won't be short of things to do whether it's an afternoon stroll through Yarmouth's cobbled streets, or a bike ride along the flat paths which run alongside the nature reserves. The main square, by the pier, is overlooked by a stunning 17th Century church; the perfect spot to enjoy an ice cream before wandering up the pier to admire the view across the Solent.
The infamous Needles is a short drive away and the stretch of coastline is both dramatic and stunning. Freshwater Bay is a favourite for kayaking with Adventure Activities located opposite, where you can book a guided kayak tour for the whole family, fantastic fun for everyone. They offer many other activities so they are well worth a visit.
There are endless beaches to choose from within easy reach of Modwena, Colwell Bay, located between Yarmouth and Totland, being one of them. The bay has clear shallow waters for swimming and an acclaimed restaurant called The Hut, which comes highly recommended.
