Well located cottage, close to coastal path for nice walks in either direction whilst enjoying the sea views. Excellent open plan living area, comfortable lounge, well equipped kitchen, all very clean. Shower a decent size, plenty of hot water with good pressure. Good amount of clothes storage for 2 people in the bedroom. Bed comfortable, the fact it is quite low was not a problem for us. Cottage is well illuminated with natural light plus modern lighting, this is a pleasant change as many cottages we have been to before are poorly lit with low energy bulbs. Nice private walled garden, not overlooked. We had excellent meals at The Travellers Joy (10 minute walk) and The Bosham Inn (5 min drive, probably walkable but it was raining). We also had lunch at the Courtyard, Southsea Castle which was quite expensive for lunch but very good quality and filling. Southsea Castle is free to visit and the surrounding seafront area is being improved. We had an enjoyable walk from the castle along the promenade to Portsmouth old town, with lots of shipping activity in the channel to observe, and we watched the hovercraft setting out. Loads of roadside parking plus D-Day landing attraction car park, all payable but not expensive. We also spent a day in the New Forest which was lovely. ...

A very clean and well presented cottage with lovely shower. No friendly greeting, which we have come to expect. Just an 'hello' would have been appreciated. In fact, didn't see the owners the entire time of our short four night stay, not even to ask if everything was satisfactory. Although the description does point out that the bed is a Scandinavian bed and low down, we need to stress the Scandinavian bed is very uncomfortable, like sleeping on a plank of wood. We would recommend bringing a topper for the bed, if you want a good night's sleep! It really did mar our stay. Must stress that we have never experienced this before, and we have stayed in quite a few Classic cottages...all very comfortable. Can't stress this enough. We were seriously thinking of packing up and returning home. Lack of sleep is not good.......

We're so sorry to hear that the bed didn't suit you - it is very hard to find something that ticks the boxes for everyone, and we're really disappointed that we weren't aware of your discomfort during your break. Both we and the owners would have loved the opportunity to try to improve your stay if possible, although the owners do aim to balance the level of interaction with guests so as not to disturb their stay unnecessarily. Our team are available in the office and we email all guests during their stay to check that everything is going well, so please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions during future holidays. We so appreciate you sharing your thoughts now and were pleased that you found the property generally clean and well presented. Tanya, Customer Support...

Relatively newly converted cottage so everything in good condition; great sofas, great shower. But do be aware that the bed is very low to the ground which may be a problem for some. Great location for walks straight out from the cottage.

The Old Stables is a beautifully converted historic building, and extremely comfortable. It is very well equipped and once we got the hang of the underfloor heating and wifi were all set up. It is ideally situated to explore West Sussex and we enjoyed visits to Bosham, Chichester, Arundel and West Wittering - all in easy reach. Top tip: There is a newly opened café Mamawu literally around the corner that serves excellent breakfasts, lunch and coffee/cakes (even cocktails but we didn't indulge this time!). We were very reluctant to go home and will look to book again. ...
