Superb accommodation, immaculately presented and perfectly appointed with amazing views. Ideal location, close to the beach and only a short walk into St Ives.

The Lower Deck is part of a new development of apartments, with stunning views west across the town of St. Ives and east to Godrevy Lighthouse. The views form the highlight of this apartment, with large bi-fold doors provided access to a sweeping balcony from the main living area and the bedroom. It is a shame then, that the balcony furniture does not allow you to relax to take in the views with a class of wine-cooler'ed Pinot Grigio in hand. This can only otherwise be accomplished by standing, or using the cheap metal chairs provided (visible on one of the Classic Cottages photographs). The lack of balcony furniture is a minor complaint and could be easily rectified using some of the funding we provided this week. The rest of the apartment is stunning. The kitchen is well equipped for full self-catering or just leisurely breakfasts (Tesco is less than a kilometre from the apartment). If self-catering is not on the cards, there are a number of good eating establishments close by, including the Cornish Arms pub (easy walking distance up the hill) or the Badger Pub (short drive towards Carbis Bay). The "best fish and chips in Cornwall" at Becks is only 2km drive and it lived up to its reputation. The bedrooms are also comfortable, with the twin bedded room being very spacious. There is a large skylight at one end of this room, which will require the kids to be light-tolerant or to bring a couple of in-flight eye masks, depending on the time of year visiting. The bathrooms are well appointed with showers and baths. The lighting comes on automatically, meaning no fumbling at night. Technology-wise, the apartment has a new LG SMART TV, although there is no DVD player as outlined in the Classic Cottages property description (in case you were planning to catch up with some box-sets whilst the Atlantic rain falls). The property has WiFi internet and, with the neighbourhood telecom boxes all advertising "Superfast"broadband in this far-flung country corner, it did seem very speedy for most uses (including the streaming of your box-set entertainment, if that is your wish). Elsewhere in the apartment complex, there is a beautiful shared garden area, which also provides easy gated access to the weather-protected Porthminster Beach, with its own cafes, restaurants and water sport facilities (like staying on your own resort). The walk to the beach takes 5-10 minutes, the walk back somewhat longer as it is a fairly steep incline. The complex has parking for a single vehicle (non-allocated spaces) and a handy storage room for bikes, kayaks etc., for which a key is provided. (I don't think that this is mentioned in the property description, but was a real bonus). The apartment is also close to the town of St. Ives (10-15 minute walk), but is located close enough to the edge of town to be easy for a quick escape (no narrow village roads to navigate). It is also within easy reach of some great surf beaches (Sennen Cove)...
