The Maenporth Estate
This impeccably maintained development of modern holiday cottages is set in 29 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds on the hill above sandy Maenporth cove, just a couple of miles from the thriving maritime town of Falmouth and the lovely Helford Passage. With a centrally-located indoor Leisure Centre (open all year except Christmas Day) offering a heated swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, table-tennis and pool tables, all free for guests to use, this is a perfect location for families throughout the year. A communal barbecue area, two all-weather tennis courts and a children’s play area are also available to guests. The nearby beach is a short stroll down the steep hill, safe for swimming and with rock pools to be explored at low tide, while the rustic beach cafe and award-winning Cove Bar and Restaurant cater for all tastes. The surrounding area offers coastal footpaths, tree-lined creeks and winding country lanes, with glorious gardens at Trebah and Glendurgan to explore. Sailing, canoeing and diving lessons are all available locally, as are riding stables and golf courses, while the north coast surfing beaches are only a 45 minute drive away. You really do not have to travel far to experience the very best the county has to offer while staying in comfort on the Maenporth Estate.
The Maenporth Cottages
The cottages are spread throughout the Estate in small terraces, each with a slightly different outlook over the grounds but all with patios and private parking. Wildlife is plentiful, with an abundance of birds, squirrels and the occasional fox and badger all attracted by the landscaped grounds and woodland.
Offering accommodation of varying sizes, each property is individually styled with convivial open plan living accommodation on the ground floor and doors leading out to a patio and communal lawns or private garden areas. There is a storage area for boats and dinghies for those wishing to enjoy the wonderful sailing opportunities locally (although regretfully commercial vans and camper vans are not allowed on site).
The Area
This secluded holiday spot is within easy reach of the bustling town of Falmouth and all its facilities, yet it feels like you’ve been let into a well-kept secret. Maenporth beach is a perfect, sheltered little cove backed by woodland and gentle hills; it’s the kind of place you can imagine the Famous Five having visited.
Close by are the gardens of Trebah and Swanpool and Gyllyngvase; both sandy family beaches, and beyond these the coast path takes you into Falmouth where you can shop til you drop, visit the historic Pendennis Castle or have lunch at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall. From Falmouth you can also take the ferry to other locations along the banks of the River Fal.
