A real find for those who want to be off the beaten track, The Old Engine House is found in a tiny hamlet equidistant from both north and south coasts. The Owner and his friendly dog Fred live next door; the Owner’s carpentry workshop is beyond the cottage, which is topped with an old mine engine house chimney. Totally renovated in recent months, the cottage also benefits from solar panels for electricity and hot water. A cosy wood-burner warms the ground floor sitting-room and there is a dining-room, kitchen and a modern shower-room here too, with a pretty bedroom up the open sided stairs. There is a natural wild garden outside and a deck for guests’ use. Although close to the County town of Bodmin, this is very rural so bring wellies and walking boots as well as flip flops. Unfortunately the cottage is not suitable for children.
